Taste your way through the South with three culinary trailblazers
Mixologist Tiffanie Barriere and chefs Deborah VanTrece and Jennifer Hill Booker will prepare Southern-inspired small plates and craft cocktails as they talk about their experiences in the food service industry and the challenges African-American women face in the business as part of a “Cocktails, Cuisine & Conversation” event before the three travel to the James Beard House in New York.

Explore two culinary cultures with one event
Stop us if you’ve heard this one before — a Parsi and a Jew walk into a restaurant … and cook a meal together. General Muir chef Todd Ginsberg and Chai Pani chef Meherwan Irani are returning with their Challah Walla dinner, wherein they rediscover the common ingredients that their ancestors cooked with. The six-course, family-style dinner will also be prepared with the help of chef Eli Kirstein, formerly of the Luminary, and Archna Becker of Bhojanic.

Drizzle, dip and dine
Explore balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy during this dinner led by vinegar producer Giussepe Rimedio. Tickets include a cocktail, guided balsamic tasting and four-course dinner.

Talk cocktails with the experts
The South’s relationship with drinking is complicated, but Sara Camp Milam and Jerry Slater will attempt to make it clearer during their discussion at the Atlanta History Center. Milam, a former Oxford American associate editor and Southern Foodways Alliance’s managing editor, and Slater, who has managed beverage programs at One Flew South and H. Harper Station, will discuss the “Southern Foodways Alliance Guide to Cocktails,” which bridges the gaps between the culture, history and practice of drinking in the South.

Celebrate the holidays with a traditional dinner
The Feast of the Seven Fishes, or “La Vigilia,” is a tradition that originated in Southern Italy to celebrate the vigil for the birth of Jesus. Chef Jamie Adams of Il Giallo Osteria & Bar is presenting his three-course version, with seven different varieties of seafood including house-salted cod fritters and New England hake baked in parchment paper and served with fingerling potatoes, roasted tomatoes, clams, capers, sweet onions and saffron.
