Less than a week after the opening of its sister spot, Muchacho, Golden Eagle has set at opening date for the end of the month.
The restaurant will open in its Reynoldstown location at 904 Memorial Drive on Oct. 30. The latest concept from Michael Lennox, the owner of Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall, Golden Eagle will serve as an homage to Lenno’x grandparents, “with a buttoned-down, retro aesthetic that channels the diamond-in-the-rough watering holes, neighborhood corner taverns and hotel lobby bars they would frequent in their native Pittsburgh,” according to a press release.
The spot will serve an extensive cocktail and “continental classics of yesteryear” including garlic knots, crab Rangoon, and charbroiled oysters, as well shareable vegetable plates and a few larger items such as ricotta gnocchi and a tavern steak.
Muchacho, which opened Oct. 16, is the smaller of the two spaces and features counter service with breakfast and lunch tacos, toasts, grain bowls, poke and pastries, plus a drink list featuring a handful of canned beer and wine, cocktails and housemade agua fresca.
Housed in a former rail depot (the former home of H. Harper Station), the spots will be separated by an interior brick wall and share a patio opening directly onto the Beltline’s Eastside Trail.
Key members of Golden Eagle’s team include culinary director Taria Camerino, formerly of Sugar Coated Radical, Ford Fry Restaurants, Resurgens Hospitality and Tate Modern in London; chef de cuisine Jason Simpson, formerly of St. Cecilia and Melisse in L.A.; bar manager Jeff Stockton, formerly of Empire State South; and general manager Nicholas Bown-Crawford, formerly of Le Fat, Ton Ton, One Rooster, Concentrics Restuarants and Murphy’s.
