Ponce City Market offers a pletora of eating options: tacos, seafood, pasta, burgers, fried chicken, salad, gelato and more. Add edible cookie dough to the list.
Atlanta’s first edible cookie dough shop, Batter Cookie Dough Counter, is joining the ranks of vendors at the popular food hall. Batter is expected to open in mid-November.
Located in a stall across from Honeysuckle Gelato, the dessert shop will offer a total of 10 flavors of traditional and seasonal cookie dough, including sugar, chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal, lemon, salted caramel and s’mores. It will also offer a gluten-free version of its chocolate chip dough and a vegan version of its sugar dough.
Batter’s all-natural, preservative-free cookie dough does not contain eggs and is made with heat-treated flour that is safe to consume uncooked.
Patrons can opt for scoops of straight-up cookie dough or select from a variety of toppings. The shop will also sell dough in to-go pints.
Those looking for a fully baked product will find an assortment of fresh cookies that can be washed down with milk, chocolate milk or cold brew coffee.
Batter Cookie Dough Counter is a venture by Atlantan Julie Abes, who partnered with local frozen sundry company High Road Ice Cream & Sorbet to produce the dough for Batter.
“I’ve always loved cookie dough,” said Abes, who spent years baking cookies with her two children. “I’ve seen the concept coming around and I thought, how do we not have one here? Atlanta needs one of these.”
Abes is no stranger to the food service. She is married to David Abes, currently chief operating officer for Buckhead Life Restaurant Group and former director of operations for LDV Hospitality and the now defunct Here to Serve restaurant group.
“I have lived the food industry,” she said. “We’ve been married almost 24 years. We’ve been together almost 30. It’s not like I am going into this blindly.”
