A James Beard Award-winning cookbook author will join a team of prominent local chefs and bartenders for the Atlanta History Center’s Back on the Farm event.
Atlanta chef and cookbook author Virginia Willis, who won the Focus on Health award in the cookbook category in 2016 for her book “Lighten Up, Y’all: Classic Southern Recipes Made Healthy and Wholesome,” will create a Southern-influenced food for the dinner. Joining her will be local chefs including Colleen Conrad, the regional chef for Whole Foods Market; Lis Hernandez, chef and owner of Arepa Mia; Jiyeon Lee, chef and owner of Heirloom Market BBQ; and Deborah VanTrece, chef and owner of Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours.
Participating bartenders will include Kimya Dongan of Miller Union; Mercedes O’Brien of Gunshow; and Melanie Wade of Golda’s Kombucha. Farmers from White Oak Pastures, Southwest Atlanta Grower’s Cooperative
and Riverview Farms will provide produce and other food.
Money from Back on the Farm will go to support the Smith Family Farm and the Atlanta History Center’s newly established 4-H program run in conjunction with UGA Extension at the History Center.
