Chef change at 5Church Atlanta

5Church in Midtown has a new executive chef: Scotley Innis.

Innis most recently served as executive chef at Ormsby’s in West Midtown, where he has worked since 2011.

Innis began his career in New York and has since held positions at Au Pied de Cochon at the InterContinental Hotel in Mexico City, Mexico, Mudcatz Bayou Bar and Grill in Dunwoody, and Tom Colicchio’s now defunct Craftbar in Buckhead.

“My whole goal was not to just go to school to become a line cook for the rest of my life. My goal was to become a well-known household chef,” Innis said in a 2016 interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’m not there, as of yet, but I’m still working hard to break through that barrier. As a chef that is not as well-known, I have to make my food speak for itself, represent me, for people to get to know me as a chef.”

5Church owner Ayman Kamel hopes that Innis will bring southern flavors and those of his Caribbean heritage to 5Church’s modern American menu.
