It’s been about six months in the making, but Second Self Beer Company’s new tasting room will open its doors to the public tonight.
The brewery, initially opened in 2014 at 1317 Logan Circle NW in Atlanta. It closed to the public in December 2015 to install new tanks, an in-house canning line, and other brewing equipment, as well as expand its tasting room to accommodate 180 customers. The additions will allow the craft brewery — whose Red Hop Rye was named one of Georgia’s 25 best beers — to increase production by about 150 percent.
Several pours will be available during the grand opening weekend, including seasonal releases Citrus IPA, Maverick & Gose, Mole Porter, and new beers brewed exclusively for the grand opening including Funky Mole, a Mole Porter finished with wild yeast, Raspberry Gose and Grapefruit Gose and two new pilot beers: a Caraway and Black Pepper Saison and a Hoppy Brown ale.
Tours during grand opening weekend will include tastings of up to 36 oz. of Second Self beer samples on draft, and a souvenir glass. Food from local vendors will be available for purchase.
The tasting room will be open from 6-8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow night; 1-4 p.m. Saturday; and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Friday and Saturday will feature live music, and a yoga class will be offered from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.
After opening weekend, Second Self’s tasting room will be open to the public each week on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
