In late June, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported that casual dining chain Black Walnut Cafe would be opening its first location outside Texas in Alpharetta.

Today, July 7, marks the opening day for that restaurant, the chain’s fifteenth unit, which is located at 5805 Windward Parkway at the intersection of North Point Parkway.

The AJC has also learned that Black Walnut Cafe has more plans for expansion into Georgia. The breakfast, lunch and dinner eatery is going to be adding a location in Peachtree Corners at 5242 Peachtree Parkway near the intersection of Peachtree Corners Circle.

Construction on that property is scheduled to begin July 11. The restaurant is expected to open in January, 2017.

In 2014, there were reports that the company also had plans to open a location in Dunwoody. While it is not moving forward with the site it had eyed at that time – 5490 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in the space occupied by a defunct Old Hickory House – a company representative stated that Black Walnut Cafe owners are currently “exploring other options” in Dunwoody.
