The dining scene in the bustling downtown area of historic Roswell is constantly humming, be it midweek lunch hour, Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Exciting and varied choices abound, drawing diners from far and wide. Longtime favorites, like Mexican restaurant Ceviche, cozy cafe The Fickle Pickle and sushi joint Zest, have been joined by a host of newcomers in recent years that are raising the dining bar to a new level.
Table & Main
Table & Main hit the historic Roswell restaurant scene almost five years ago, but the “Southern tavern” is still going strong thanks to its beautiful location in a restored farmhouse cottage, an enviable patio and, most of all, seasonal Southern fare that keeps diners coming back. Sister restaurant to Osteria Mattone (another must-visit in historic Roswell), Table & Main is known for its succulent, crispy, crave-worthy fried chicken. Other standouts include the shrimp and grits – plumb shrimp atop stone-ground grits full of creamy, smoky gouda cheese goodness – and the Charleston she-crab soup. For dessert, we can never say no to the carrot cake.

Roswell Provisions and Le Bistro
Located in the heart of Canton Street, Roswell Provisions offers European flair paired with old school charm. In the downstairs market area, you’ll find an espresso bar serving hot and iced coffee drinks, teas, ice cream and gelato, as well as a pastry bar with freshly made breads, pastries, croissants and more. There’s even an olive oil and condiment bar with specialty concoctions imported from Italy, Greece and France. The market stocks more than 100 wines (varying from $8.95 to $120 a bottle ), more than 125 domestic and international cheeses, a variety of smoked and cured meats, and French and Italian delicacies (Think: pate and prosciutto). The French vibes continue upstairs in Le Bistro, featuring a light Parisian menu of classics like a croque-monsieur, salade nicoise and savory crepes. Le Bistro is also a cozy after-dinner spot. We’re partial to grabbing a seat on the breezy porch overlooking Canton Street and finishing date night here with a decadent nutella crepe and a crisp glass of rose.

The Real Fix Pizzeria
Steps off the main drag of Canton Street, the Real Fix Pizzeria is a pie lovers haven cooking up Neapolitan-style pizzas thanks to double zero flour, sweet San Marzano tomatoes and super-hot ovens. Unique flavor combinations make for interesting craft pizzas, such as the Get Crackin’ white pizza with the odd, but delicious combo of pistachio pesto and Brussels sprouts. Or check out one of its more traditional red pizzas, like the Fuhgeddaboudit with extras like smoky bacon and creamy ricotta. But if you’re going to try out the Real Fix, we think you’d be amiss not to give its fried pizza a try. Carnivores can order the Beastmaster, a savory filling with a bevy of meats (fennel sausage, meatballs, pepperoni and smoked bacon) plus melty mozzarella and gorgonzola and a little kick from Calabrian chiles—all enveloped in a semi-sweet crust.

Tutto Kitchen & Bar
A couple steps from historic Roswell’s main thoroughfare (and next door to The Real Fix Pizzeria) sits Tutto Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant offers a roomy spread of tables and a warm, inviting ambiance. A long bar encourages patrons to linger, sip and have a casual meal, while table seating offers more traditional dining. Customer service here really shines, with well-versed and knowledgeable servers able to offer recommendations on the food and the extensive wine list. Among small plates, the grilled octopus dish and fried goat cheese are standbys. From the plethora of pasta and seafood entrees, we recommend the shrimp risotto. And do save room for the house-made canolis.

The Sugar Shack in the Back
Satisfy caffeine cravings and your sweet tooth at The Sugar Shack in the Back, which is tucked behind The Fickle Pickle on Canton Street. Upon entering the small bakery and coffee shop, you’ll be pleasantly overwhelmed with delicious aromas of baked sweets. Pastries, cookies, desserts, ice cream and Counter Culture coffee are yours for the asking, as well as biscuit sandwiches on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Simple sugary goodness in the form of a beignet is sure to please, or step up your dessert game and go for the salted caramel apple pie. Enjoy your treats inside or on the adorable patio.
