There’s no shortage of above-average Korean restaurants in Duluth, due in large part to the town’s thriving Korean community — Honey Pig, Dan Moo Ji, Pepper Garden, Manna Korean Snack Restaurant, Shabu & Shabu and Seo Ra Beol all make the list of favorites.

But it’s a relatively new entry in the Duluth Korean food arena that’s getting recognition as the best Korean barbecue in the country by restaurant search site Tabelog. Breakers Korean BBQ, which AJC dining writer Wyatt Williams awarded two stars when he reviewed it in September 2015, beat out spots in Chicago, New York and Honolulu to take the top spot.

Breakers “oozes sophistication and class and offers a zen-like environment,” Tableog writes. “The BBQ grills are down-drafted to avoid annoying metal hoods hanging over each table. They serve superior meat products such as 5 layer pork belly, 21 day aged short ribs, and use ribeye instead of the traditional tenderloin for their bulgogi.”

For ITP-ers who crave Korean but aren’t as keen on making the trek to Duluth, good news: The team behind Breakers is opening two intown locations of Seoul K BBQ Breakers Express, a Breakers spin-off, in Greenbriar and West End.
