Fourth of July is approaching, and in one week Atlantans will likely be grilling and picnicking, running the Peachtree Road Race, watching fireworks, or lounging at the pool or lake. But for those looking for plans throughout the weekend, we’ve got you covered.
Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails

Okay, Milton’s is jumping the gun by celebrating THIS weekend with the kickoff of their monthly BBQ & Blues Sundays. The lawn outside Milton’s Acre will be buzzing with blues music starting at 5 p.m. and ending at sunset. Chicken ribs and other finger-licking barbecue will be served along with craft brews and cocktails.

The restaurant is celebrating with an “independents” day meal, a take on the celebration of local Atlanta purveyors. Fried catfish from Carolina Classics and Athen’s Creature Comforts beer appear on the Southern-sourced menu.

Imbibe on unlimited beer samplings and barbecue, all while surrounded by the floor-to-ceiling aquarium tanks. Brews include Abita, Ballast Point Brewery, Hoegaarden, Leffe Blond and Sweetwater Brewing Company. The event goes from 7 to 10 p.m. and tickets are $45 for members, $55 for non-members.

Kevin Gillespie is celebrating his upcoming anticipated restaurant, Terminus City, with a preview menu at Gunshow. Guests will choose from chopped whole hog barbecue, chicken-fried steak or a vegetarian side, all complemented with country vegetable sides. This sneak peek goes from 12 to 8 p.m. and Gunshow’s regular service will not occur.

Who knew barbecue dinners could come in three courses? The dinner celebrates picnic favorites in a polished atmosphere, with chilled peach soup, chopped pork barbecue, potato salad, mac and cheese, and peach pie. The dinner is $38 per person and is rounded out with a special cocktail menu and $6 Sweetwater Georgia Brown and Sweetwater 420.

The family-friendly festival is a combination of food and rides, but the catch is no alcohol is served. Admission is $14 for children 14-17 and $20 for ages 18 and up, under 13 is free. Buy tickets to sample the food from local vendors like “A Moveable Feast” food truck, “Loaded Burger”, and Takshaki Grill.
